La Vierge Rouge is a majestic parcel of 80 year old vines located at the foot of the Albères mountains, about 20 minutes inland from Banyuls and moments from the Spanish-French border. The vineyard is co-planted with all three colors of Grenache in goblet, although the vast majority is Grenache Gris. The parcel is flat and surrounded by trees and flowering shrubs, creating natural shields from the winds and plenty of room for wild life. The soil is composed predominantly of granitic sand, contributing to its signature elegance and salinity. The 2018 vintage was picked a few days later than planned, giving way to slightly riper berry fruit. The short maceration lends to a dark rosé, with a fresh acidity and incredible energy. Laced with the sweet spices of the south and Yoyo’s signature elegance, this cuvée steals are hearts over and over again.
