Laurence Manya Krief, better known as Yoyo, has 5ha of old vines, predominantly in Banyuls, wedged between the ocean and the mountains. After freeing herself from the chaos of the textiles industry in Paris, Yoyo moved to Banyuls, near her hometown of Perpignan, in the early 2000’s. She began to purchase small plots of abandoned vines in overlooking the ocean, searching for old vines and varying expositions. She converted the vines of grenache (all 3 colours), carignan, and mourvedre to organic agriculture, and works the steep slopes of black schist by hand. She is in the constant quest for balance, in the vineyard and in the wines, coaxing elegance and finesse between the ripe fruit from the warm Mediterranean sun and the salty ocean breezes. An incredible inspiration, Yoyo is a mentor, sister, and wonderful friend. Her wines bring us right to Banyuls, one of our very favorite places on earth.
